The type of style you choose will decide how much digital manipulation your Artwork will require. Some styles require more than others. The amount of digital manipulation will reflect in the cost of the art piece. Use the price range indicator on the pricing page to get a general idea of cost. The final price however is only set after I have reviewed your image and requirements.

Oil Paint / Painterly

An oil painting is "painterly" meaning there are visible brush strokes, and/or a textured surface. Painterly characterizes the work of artists such as Pierre Bonnard, Francis Bacon, Vincent Van Gogh or Rembrandt. The Impressionists and the Abstract Expressionists strongly tended to be "painterly". Choosing a painterly style will give you the most recognized style of oil painting.

Picture Types: Any subject matter will fit this style. This is also a great style to combine with Monochromatic or Vintage if you choose to do so.

This example was a digital vacation photograph. I cropped the image, changed the position of the figure in the window, enhanced the color, and applied a full Artist Rendered finish. The painting on canvas measures 32" X 40" and was stretched on wooden stretcher bars. Final price $1280.

Monochromatic

In this style we reduce all hues (colors) in your photograph down to a single hue, then create different values within the same hue. I often work with clients to choose the colors that most fits their style or taste in color. Another option is to allow me to guide you in suggesting colors to best fit your image.

Picture Types: Any pictures may be used for this style. This style also works well when combined with Painterly or Pop Art.

Canvas or watercolor paper will accommodate this style.

This sample was a digital image taken by the mother of the child. I cropped the image, removed the large pole behind the child’s back and created an overall graphic appearance. This gives it a modern aesthetic. The canvas painting was enhanced with brushstrokes and stretched over in a Gallery Wrap style (see FAQ). It measures 20" X 24". Final Price $456.

Watercolor

Watercolor art brings a sense of relaxation and softness to any room. Soft organic lines blending together loosely to create images of meaningful memories. The fun thing about these watercolor images is that from a distance of approximately 8 feet and back, the image looks like a photograph. It is not until you get closer that it is revealed it is actually a painting. It is a fun surprise for new viewers.

Picture Types: Any pictures may be used for this style. This style can be combined with Vintage and Monochromatic styles.

Watercolor paper is highly recommended for this style.

This picture of the family dog was cropped, color enhanced, extra detail work brought to the eyes (difficult to see on the web) , digitally altered to a watercolor and printed on watercolor paper. It has the Basic Finish only. The painting measures 16" X 13.5". Final price $160.

Pop Art

The Pop Art movement exploded in the 1960’s with Andy Warhol’s famous screen printed images. Warhol focused on the iconography of everyday American life; commercial objects and celebrity portraits. This particular style emphasizes flatness rather than realism, and is widely known for it’s multi paneled designs. You can chose a single panel, or mix it up any way you like with multi panels and colors. This is a very popular style at the time and most popular for portraits.

Picture Types: This style requires a clear and well lit photograph. Photographs that are blurry will be difficult to create into a Pop Art Piece. This style is best for portraits of people, animals or objects.

Canvas or watercolor paper will accommodate this style.

Nine separate images were created from the original photograph and joined together to design this Pop Art image. This piece was printed on paper and given a basic finish. It measures 30" X 30".

Final price $630.

Vintage (Antique)

This style is great for taking a color photograph and turning it into an elegant image that reflects the past. I can turn your color photograph into black and white, or Sepia. I can also go back into the image and add a colored tint creating a delicate focal point.

Picture Types: Any pictures may be used for this style. This style can also be combined well with Oil paint or Watercolor.

Any ground will accommodate this style.

All color was removed from the image but the girls dress. This image was printed on photo paper. The overall size is 14" X 10.5" Final price $120.

Expressionism

expressionist sample image

Expressionism is the tendency of an artist to distort reality for an emotional effect; it is a subjective art form. Although Expressionist art tends to be filled with angst, I can create some lively images to add movement and color to your home or office space. This is a very loose form of art which tends to fit in the Contemporary category of art.

Picture Types: Any subject matter may work for this style, but portraits are best.

Canvas is highly recommended for this style.

This was a scanned photograph which I cropped, and digitally manipulated. It was printed on canvas and given a full Artist Rendered finish. It was stretched in the Gallery Wrap style (see FAQ). It measures 18" X 18". Final price $325.
